Description
The Between the Lines Broadside Series connects six NYC-based artists with incarcerated artists/writers in the South to create a collaborative print edition. Each collaboration explores the printed multiple as a powerful vehicle to build relationships and dialogue across prison walls. Through combining text and visual language that amplify the lived experiences of individual participants, this reading celebrates the resilience of the creative spirit while advocating for the fundamental dignity of all people living in confinement.
Between the Lines began in Fall 2020 as a series of art workshops by correspondence with incarcerated LGBTQ+ artists and writers in Florida. This print edition builds on the relationships developed over the past year, and aims to build a larger audience and support network for the ideas and perspectives of incarcerated participants.
